Our Lady of Pillar Nursing Academy is owned by the Sisters of Charity of St. Anne and managed by the Our Lady of Pillar Trust, a religious congregation of Roman Catholic sisters. The congregation was founded in 1804 in Spain during the time of Napoleon Bonaparte, following the French Revolution.

The founders, Fr. John Bonal and Mother Maria Rafols, initiated their mission to serve suffering humanity. Their work began at the Royal Hospital of Our Lady of Grace in Zaragoza, where they dedicated themselves to caring for the sick, wounded, orphaned, and the poor. Inspired by the charism of the founders—Universal Charity (Love without Frontiers)—the sisters gradually extended their mission beyond Spain by establishing communities devoted to serving the poorest and most needy through the practice of hospitality to the point of heroism.

The congregation expanded its mission to India in 1951. Today, the congregation has nearly 60 centres across two provinces in India, actively engaged in the fields of healthcare, education, and various apostolic and social services.
