Sports Committee

Introduction

The Sports Committee is dedicated to the physical well-being and competitive spirit of our student body. ln the nursing profession, physical stamina and mental resilience are just as important as clinical knowledge. Our committee aims to move students away from the sedentary nature of intensive study and onto the field, where they can recharge and build character. By integrating sports into the nursing curriculum, we prepare our students to be "Fit Nurses" professionals who lead by example in health and wellness while possessing the grit and determination required for high-stakes healthcare environments.

Objectives

The Sports Committee operates with a focus on fitness, discipline, and healthy competition. Our core objectives are:

  • Promoting Physical Fitness: To encourage a lifestyle of regular exercise, helping students build the stamina necessary for the physical demands of clinical practice.
  • Building Leadership and Teamwork: To use team sports as a tool for teaching students how to communicate, collaborate, and lead under pressure-skills that translate directly to the hospital ward.
  • Developing Sportsmanship: To instil a sense of discipline, fair play, and the ability to handle both victory and defeat with grace and professionalism.
  • Mental Well-being: To provide an essential "stress-buster" that reduces academic anxiety and improves the overall mental health of the student community.
  • Talent identification: To identify and nurture students with exceptional athletic abilities and provide them with opportunities to compete at university, state, or national levels.
  • Community Building: To foster a sense of belonging and "esprit de corps" (team spirit) among students, faculty, and staff through friendly matches and athletic meets
